How it all began...
Highwoods Hounds began as a daydream while working as a Senior Marketing Executive in Academic Publishing many years ago. My dear Mumās health deteriorated so I needed to reduce my working hours and a friend at work said what would you do if you could and obviously it would be working with animals but I had always needed to be responsible with a pension etc.
I have had a wonderful childhood weāve rescued any animal that needed a home, tortoises, rabbits, guinea pigs, budgies, cats and dogs.Ā I was very lucky to have the best parents who would go without so we could have Sonny Jim my first pony.
So Highwoods Hounds began part time and oh my goodness its been fabulous and now my full time business, I have the best clients and dogs and am so lucky.
Where I am now...
I specialise in scent hounds, giant breeds, rescues, nervous dogs, sight hounds but also carrying Cockerpoos! āPaws on the floors Claireā as my client says!
I am also obsessed with Land Rover Defenders having owned a few and we have the Hound Bus so named by our brilliant mechanic and now by everyone!
The Hound Bus has crates in each section so all dogs are safe.
In the summer the Hound Bus has fans, cool mats, shades on the windows and water bowls in each section. In the winter we have coats, towels and hot water bottles.
Whether it’s a walk, a few hours daycare or a sleepover, I promise theyāll have the best time and my goal is that they never want to leave!

Whether you’re at work, out for the day, or just need a helping hand, my pop-in visits are a great way to make sure your dog gets a bit of company, care, and attention while you’re not at home.
Each visit is tailored to your dogās needs ā whether thatās a toilet break, playtime, lunch, medication, or just some fuss and a bit of love. I care for your dog as if they were my own, so you can relax knowing theyāre happy, settled, and well looked after until you return.

Highwoods Hounds is the absolute best dog walking service. My Labrador Salt needs a lot of exercise and comes home ready for a rest. He loves the company of the other dogs and sits by the window waiting impatiently for Claire and the other dogs.

What happens at a Meet & Greet?
Iāll pop round to meet you and your dog to make sure we all get on and Iāll let you know all the services I offer. We can meet at your house or out on a walk whichever is most comfortable.
It is so important to find out what your dog likes and their history and making a lovely new friend.
If you forget to ask anything please do just get in touch.
Is Highwoods Hounds insured?
We certainly are with Protectivity.
Is it possible to book adhoc walks?
Absolutely yes, with notice please but we will always do our best to fit you in.
